Benevolent, warm and professional, Damien perpetuates the tradition and know-how of oyster farming instilled by his ancestors RABALLAND, from father to son for more than 4 generations.
Come and discover the richness of its Pays du Gois territory ! On vacation or on a weekend in VENDÉE, take a bike ride, walk or drive to discover our 6 atypical small ports in the north-west of Vendée. The Port du Bec is undoubtedly the most original and captivating with its wooden pontoons which have earned it the nickname of “Chinese port”. Admire the ballet of oyster farmers with their boat (barge) at the return of each tide. What an original and highly mastered show by the professionals that our tourists love to photograph !
Cross our territory and discover the many salt marshes which will lead you to the essential activity of a stay in Vendée: "fishing on foot", the sport not to be missed here! Clams and cockles just have to watch out for the pleasure of the whole family!
At the end of all his local activities, Damien Raballand, a passionate oyster farmer, will be happy to welcome you to his "cabin", at the foot of the Port du Bec wind turbines ! Live from his seawater basins, he will make you taste his oysters which he raised with love and patience for 3 years between the island of Noirmoutier and Beauvoir-sur-Mer, in the open sea in the bay of Bourgneuf, rich in plankton ! With well iodized flavors, their roundness in the mouth and their quality are its priorities. You will also find in DIRECT SALE all its selection of local shellfish : bouchot mussels, clams and wild cockles, winkles...
In family or in group, this passionate person will make you visit his establishment in his polder which gathers not less than 100 oyster farmers! He will explain to you the long process necessary for the oyster, all the mechanization on land and at sea essential to the profession and especially the history of his territory and his product. From the spat (baby) to the marketed oyster, it takes a lot of steps to enjoy oysters! One more reason to enjoy them during the tasting at the end of the visit! Clear, fine of clear, special or green according to the season, you will appreciate even more this noble product, fruit of a hard work!
What a pleasure to discover one of the flagship products of local gastronomy with so much freshness and above all WITH its producer ! The little glass of Vendeén white wine is a must!
You can finally find us on our Vendée markets ! Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we are under the beautiful covered market of Les Halles de La Roche-sur-yon next to the well-known Place de Napoléon : well-stocked benches of local products (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) ! Every Sunday of the year, we are also present at the outdoor market in Notre-dame-de-Monts, 5 minutes from Saint-Jean-de-Monts, as well as Thursdays in July and August!
