    •  The Noirmoutier en l'Île section of the Western France salt producers' cooperative was founded in 1942. 


      Today, the cooperative brings together around one hundred salt producers, who operate some 2,300 salt carnations. The harvesting method has remained unchanged for centuries, entirely artisanal, with only the ocean, sun, man, wind and clay involved. 

      To discover this ancestral craft and the salt marshes, free bike rides are available from June to September.
