North east of the town of Chantonnay, Sigournais is a rural commune located in the lower part of the Vendée. It has a small heritage composed of wash houses, a beautiful church and a castle in the heart of the village, the Château de Sigournais. Sigournais is the stronghold of the Folle Blanche, a good little white wine, of which we can see the vestiges going back to the medieval period, by means of dry stone vineyard huts. A discovery trail in the commune allows you to understand the importance of this wine in the local economy. Today, there are still 50 hectares of vines in the commune, a rustic grape variety to be discovered in the shops of the commune.
