  • English
    • Between plain and bocage in the south of Vendée, Sainte-Hermine is a charming village located 45 minutes from the beaches of the Vendée coast. Crossed by the Smagne river, it offers lovely excursions to take as a family or as a family between the small bridges and fountains.

Two routes are marked with the 6 km Smagne loop where you discover the Vendée nature, and the 3 km historical route with numerous heritage sites to observe, between the castle of Louis 13, the church, the Protestant temple or the halls.

It must be said that Sainte-Hermine crosses time and tells its story through its buildings, since the village was once often frequented, located on the route between the north and the south. Its most emblematic monument certainly remains that of Georges Clémenceau which was established during his lifetime by the man who is called the child of the country. Long dependent on agriculture, Sainte Hermine has developed since the arrival of the Nantes-Niort motorway with a growing economy and reurbanization.

Today the town is very lively with its shops, artisans and restaurants which energize the center of Sainte-Hermine. Are you looking for an address where you can recharge your batteries? Meet at Papo'thé in Sainte-Hermine, a truly pleasant place to have a drink, meet up and take part in numerous workshops.

Sainte-Hermine also has a market set up every Friday morning under the market halls and a lively fair every 1st Friday of the month. Don't miss the festival on the first weekend of August which immerses you in the history of France!

Set off to discover a village with a rich heritage, in the heart of a green setting that can be explored on foot, by bike or even with horses aboard the trailers of southern Vendée.

You will love traveling through Vendée!
