In 1985, William Christie fell in love with an estate in Thiré, in Vendée, where he set about creating a garden from scratch. Since then, it is not a single garden, but a succession of spaces as remarkable as they are eclectic that he has imagined over the years, in a process of permanent creation.
Inspired by the art of gardens as it reached its peak in France and Italy in the 17th and 18th centuries, William Christie's Gardens also tend to highlight the beauties of the Vendée landscape, bringing together numerous trees and plants specific to this region.
Now recognized as a "Remarkable Garden" and listed in the Inventory of Historic Monuments, this exceptional 12-hectare place is at the center of the Arts Florissants project.
