  I’ve done the canoë sympa multiple times and it is always a blast. Canals are easy to navigate and boots don’t flip and easily as other canoes I’ve been in. Great waters to navigate with kids, as it’s calm and not very deep.

  This was my first experience of paddling in a canoe! We were in a group of people being shown around this part of the Vendée by the local tourism office staff - they were very knowledgeable and were good guides on the canals around the pretty town of Sallertaine. I would recommend the Route du Sel canoe trip as the water was very calm and the route was well signposted so you couldn’t get lost!

  Incredibly friendly and amusing staff. Full of information about the marshes and their history. Very helpful. Good value, easy parking 50m away in the centre of the village There are several canoe routes to choose from, all colour coded. If only going once, go to the Windmill. Don't leave without looking around the garden behind the shop. There is also a small cafe behind the garden to enjoy, and a bar in the village square.
