If you want to know one of the highest localities in Vendée, welcome to Saint-Michel-Mont-Mercure. Culminating at an altitude of 290m, the village church, adorned with a sparkling and gilded Archangel Saint Michael, observes the surroundings. At its feet, the highest road in Vendée! It is a rural town, on the edge of the Vendée bocage. The main curiosity of the village is of course the statute of more than 9 m in height which sits at the top of the very high bell tower of the church.
