Stocked with fresh produce, the stands are full of fruits, vegetables, meats and fish ready to be tasted and cooked. From north to south, we reveal some market addresses in Vendée not to be missed.

In Bretignolles-sur-Mer for example, the market reflects the city center with 450 m2 of commercial exhibition and its Thursday evening night market. The Sables-d’Olonne market is considered one of the most beautiful in the region, while in Saint-Jean-de-Monts, it is the beach market which is famous in summer. Under the halls, in the open air, at night or at producers, the markets in Vendée have great surprises in store for you, and something to delight you.

Start by filling your basket with a delicious buttery dessert, perfect for breakfast or a snack. On the sweet side, the ass is also worth trying, a traditional flan from the Vendée marshes. Is aperitif time approaching? It’s time to discover the troussepinette, to be enjoyed with a portion of préfou, a garlic and butter bread that can be eaten on its own. The rest of the market visit in Vendée takes place at the greengrocers stand with Noirmoutier potatoes, also called Bonnotte, and mogettes, the famous white beans which often accompany a slice of grilled Vendée ham. Don’t forget to stop by the cheesemonger who can offer you halbran, mizotte or tomme des Chouans to enjoy with a glass of white, red or rosé Mareuil wine.
